Physics for Upper KS2

Book now

Aims and Objectives:

• Provide teachers with practical ideas and inspiration for teaching physics

• Help teachers extend and deepen their subject expertise

• Help teachers meet the KS2 National Curriculum

This course is designed for teachers of upper KS2 and science coordinators. During this course we challenge physics’ reputation of being difficult to both teach and learn. During this course we will examine the importance of language, misconceptions, scientific models and practical examination of the physical world to improve pedagogy and enhance teachers’ subject knowledge. The aim is for teachers to leave the session confident and excited about the practical ideas that can be implemented in the classroom.

The morning session focusses on electricity sessions on forces and light to follow. Teachers will have time to attempt the practical elements, which are designed to impose cognitive conflicts, combat common misconceptions and advance pupils’ knowledge and understanding.

The course will also highlight those practical activities which can be used to develop students understanding of the scientific method and process through consideration of variables, fair testing, data recording, data analysis, causal relationships and evaluations.

Cost: £190 per delegate (including lunch and refreshments)
