·         To understand how resources familiar to pupils help motivate them

·         To encourage cross-curricular and thematic teaching and learning

Course Tutor :  Will Barber

Will Barber gained a 2(i) honours degree in Management Science, Manchester back in the 80's, and having travelled and then worked with both IBM and Unilever he took up a PGCE at UWE in Bristol in 1993. Having completed this he worked as KS3 ICT and Science coordinator at a secondary school in Bristol. Additional roles were teaching all GCSE Sciences to year 10 and 11, and also ICT courses to year 12. After 6 years he moved into the Primary sector where he has continued teaching all subjects with a specialism in both Science and ICT for the last 11 years. He recently devised and has been running popular "Practical Science", "Cross Curricular Science" and "ICT" courses to KS1 and KS2 teachers over the last 3 years, mainly in Devon and Gloucestershire. He has 3 children of his own and is still a (slightly tired at times!) full time teacher, recently moving to a smaller school near Stroud for a new challenge.
