About Us

STEMworks is a dedicated team with a passion and vision to generate excitement and enthusiasm for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. We are a not for profit company based in Gloucestershire which specialises in the design and delivery of education outreach programmes. We work with schools, businesses, teachers and other organisations promoting STEM skills

We deliver a wide range of activities such as workshops, competitions and awards and hope to inspire young people from all backgrounds to consider STEM careers. We have a well-established relationship with many international, national and local companies working together to promote skills in Engineering, Science,  Maths and Computing.

STEMworks offers a variety of programmes in both secondary and primary schools to bring STEM businesses and education together. Through these links, employers can help raise the aspirations of young people and be directly involved in initiatives that encourage young people to develop key skills required for the world of work.

Within schools, STEMworks can provide STEM curriculum support. We can help by giving a project an exciting kick start by running one of our workshops or linking you to a local employer who can help to bring a real-life perspective to the curriculum.

We deliver programmes throughout the UK but our principal area focus is South West of England and South Wales, including: Gloucestershire, Bristol, Newport, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Herefordshire, Gwent, Somerset, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands.

Following the closure of the Gloucestershire County Council Teachers Centre (The Hucclecote Centre) in January 2011, a small team of dedicated people took the brave step to set out on a new adventure. The four of them registered STEMworks as a company limited by guarantee and were offered a base at the then Brockworth Enterprise School.  The ethos is to support schools and businesses to build STEM Capital and to run on a not-for-profit basis.

By 2015, four had become six and the business continued its work supporting schools to deliver hands-on STEM workshops, and working with industry to create and deliver high-quality STEM outreach programmes.
