Exclusive Opportunity: Safran Landing Gears Workshop

Calling all secondary schools in Gloucestershire!

STEMWorks is thrilled to offer an exclusive and fully-funded chance to participate in the distinguished Safran Landing Gears Workshop. Designed specifically for 60 Year 9 students, this exciting program will take place in 2025 and is packed with opportunities to inspire and develop young talent.

Why Participate?

  • Completely free—fully funded by Safran, with no costs to your school.

  • Access to STEM volunteers from Safran, who will provide invaluable career insights, helping meet Gatsby Benchmarks.

  • An engaging, hands-on challenge to build an air-powered vehicle capable of carrying a precious parcel while honing teamwork, problem-solving, and financial planning skills.

Workshop Highlights

Students will work in teams of four to:

  • Design and construct a functional vehicle powered by air.

  • Solve landing challenges to minimize impact.

  • Budget their designs and justify associated costs.

  • Present their ideas to peers and industry professionals.

Flexible Timetabling

This full-day workshop is tailored to fit around your school’s schedule, with flexibility for breaks and lunch times. Teams will be scored on their ability to:

  • Work collaboratively.

  • Solve problems creatively.

  • Produce a functional and cost-effective design.

  • Communicate their ideas confidently.

How It Works

  • A STEMWorks representative, supported by a local STEM Ambassador (often an engineer), will lead the workshop at your school.

  • STEMWorks will provide all necessary equipment.

  • Schools only need to provide a large space (e.g., sports hall) and a presentation setup.

Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to inspire your students and nurture the next generation of engineers and innovators!
