K’nex Computer Control
Suitable for: Years 5 – 6
Student number: up to 33
Workshop length: full day
In one of our most popular workshops, students are challenged to build and program a fairground ride using K’Nex, a versatile construction kit. Working to a design specification and in groups of 3, students must use their creativity to engineer an exciting fairground ride before using their computing and numeracy skills to program the ride. Pupils can experiment with structures, gears and other mechanisms while modelling their design before using laptops and control boxes to program movement, light and music.
The session is designed to meet all the requirements of control within the computing curriculum and is an excellent link between computing, DT and mathematics. All equipment is provided by STEMworks.
